Community facilities are a type of physical infrastructure. Traditional examples include children’s recreational playground equipment, a community hall for social and business use, pool, and gymnasium. New age examples include workshop space, storage for “big boys toys” (like caravans, wine collections, and boats), and community gardens for the production of fruit and vegetables.
Often, these facilities are vital for attracting purchasers. However, the facilities may not be appropriate or able to be financially self sufficient (for example, the community may wish to have a gym, but there may not be sufficient numbers of gym users in the community to make the gym a viable private business). This is why it is appropriate for these services to be provided by the community.
