By designing a scheme for community electricity supply, the usage of all lots and the common property can be combined to obtain substantial savings in the cost of purchasing electricity via the national electricity market.

These savings can then be passed back to investors via lower levies for common area electricity usage thus improving owners’ return on investment. Owner-occupiers enjoy the additional benefit of lower unit electricity bills when compared with standard franchise tariffs.

In order to obtain these marketing advantages, developers do not need to spend significant additional funds on construction. The bulk supply switchboard in combination with a remote automatic meter reader system may save on valuable cupboard space and cabling costs.
