Any unpaid contributions are recorded as a debt on the levy account for the respective lot. This means that when a new owner purchases a lot in a community title scheme, as with council rates, the new owner must ensure that on the date of the settlement of the lot, it is to be decided who is to meet the costs of all unpaid monies owed by the previous lot owner to the body corporate and any other entities. These costs will subsequently be paid by the respective person on the date of the settlement of the lot.
