Requirements applicable to all Class 1b, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 buildings

Recommendations

  1. Obtain copies of lists of “fire safety installations” and location drawings provided to the building certifier (council) for establishment of known “fire safety installations”.
  2. Ensure statutory requirements of the regulations are met to allow the ‘Record of Maintenance’ to be issued, develop and implement a logbook that reflects the regulation requirements and record all pertinent information leading to the issue of the ‘Record of Maintenance’.
  3. Prepare and lodge a copy of the “Occupiers Statement” with the Commissioner of the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service annually.
  4. Display a Certificate of Classification in the building per the Building Act 1975 requirements by 1 July 2009.
  5. Appoint a suitably qualified Fire Safety Adviser per the requirements of the BFSR 2008 if building is classified as a high occupancy building by 1 July 2009.
  6. Obtain relevant building approval documents i.e. (development approvals, certificates of classification or fire engineered solutions) or ensure the managing entity of the building does the same on their behalf prior to occupation with copies kept onsite at all times in a safe location.

These documents must be kept with the emergency management plans.
