A lot owner, occupier or manager who has a complaint is not required to use the owners corporation’s grievance procedure. Instead, they can make a complaint to Consumer Affairs Victoria cannot make an order to enforce a resolution and may advise you to seek internal dispute resolution.

Consumer Affairs Victoria will assess the complaint to determine if it can be conciliated. The conciliation process involves negotiation between the parties to bring them to an agreed resolution.

An area of dispute is often related to the allocation of liabilities and entitlements.  Owners can apply to VCAT for support in the area of amending the liabilties and entitlements to a fair and equitable outcome.
